Quran Burned by Pastor

Treason-Traitor-Murder ?

Afghans Rioting
Recently a man named Terry Jones, claiming to be a Christian, and Pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville Florida, preceded over what he called a Quran burning ceremony that resulted in outbreaks of violence in Afghanistan.

It is at this point when reading this post that we may have some varying opinions and many may say great, while others may question the logic, rational and insanity of doing such a thing.

Terry Jones
Many may argue that his actions fall under freedom of speech, and there may be numerous other arguments supporting Terry Jones actions, however there is a significant difference between freedom of speech or expressing an opinion or view on a topic (like writing a blog), and performing a physical act or action that causes a reaction-(Action causes Reaction)

The topic of this post is not about the controversial debates concerning the Islamic faith, or which side of that issue readers may be on.  The issue in this situation is that someone conducted an activity, or act, that caused a reaction and directly resulted in the murders of at least seven U.N. Military personnel in Afghanistan, and has likely destroyed years of nation building relations work.  Now, if these U.N. personnel happen to be U.S. Military that were murdered, we may see more outrage here at home against Terry Jones, but since it’s someone else, maybe some feel it doesn’t merit our outcry.

While those not affiliated with the military or lacking a understanding of what goes into winning the type of war being conducted in Afghanistan may not realize it, but the act of Terry Jones has aided the enemy in Afghanistan by providing them recruiting material, merit and justification for their war on America. It has mobilized a passive segment of the populace against our Military, and will undoubtedly result in U.S. casualties, just as the scandals surrounding pictures of prisoners did several years back.

The final argument is that these types of acts kill people.  Purposely and knowingly committing an act that results in the deaths of others individual is Murder.  Purposely committing acts that causes our military to incur more casualties and fatalities and reversing years of progress gained and thus aiding the enemy is Treason.  An individual who commits these acts is a Traitor.  Of course getting anyone in authority to agree and bring Terry Jones to justice probably will not happen, after all, you can’t win elections being too controversial.

There is an irony in the Quran burning topic, and that is that the isolated minority of Fanatical Muslims who through ignorance follow their mindless leaders, are no different that the mindless leader of the Dove World Outreach and the ignorance of his followers, or the leader and followers of the Westboro Baptist Church who hate the United States and its Military.  If it wasn’t so sad and fatal, it would be funny.

Punishment for Traitors

 TREASON
This word imports a betraying, treachery, or breach of allegiance.
The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
